The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that Sacred Heart University product Justin Danforth has agreed to terms on an amateur tryout (ATO).
Danforth, 23, completed a four-year career with the Sacred Heart Pioneers earlier this season, recording 10 goals and a career-high 22 assists in 37 games. His 32 points led the team and he also served as an alternate captain. Overall, Danforth earned 124 points (42 goals, 82 assists) in 147 career games with the Pioneers and led the team in scoring as a freshman, junior and senior. He was named the NCAA (AHA) Rookie of the Year in 2013-14.
A native of Oshawa, Ont., Danforth began his professional career this month when he signed an ATO with the Reading Royals (ECHL) on Mar. 8, 2017, just three days after his college career ended. He notched three points (one goal, one assist) in three games including his first professional goal on Mar. 10, 2017 against the Brampton Beast.
Prior to attending Sacred Heart, the 5’9, 181-pound center played three seasons with the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He registered 141 points (57 goals, 84 assists) in 131 games.
