Boston, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, March 27, that the club has claimed forward Kaspars Daugavins off waivers. The former Ottawa Senator will join the club after his United States work visa has been secured.
In 19 games with the Senators this season, Daugavins has registered one goal and two assists with nine penalty minutes.
In his NHL career, Daugavins has skated in 85 games notching six goals and eight assists for 14 points with 21 penalty minutes. The forward also spent parts of six seasons with the Binghamton Senators (AHL) where he appeared in 189 games and registered 48 goals and 64 assists with 68 penalty minutes.
The 6’0’’, 205-pound native of Riga, Latvia was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the third round (91st overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
