Another blown third-period lead and a failed penalty shot by David Booth in overtime took some of the sparkle out of rookie Evgeny Dadonov’s two-goal outing as the Panthers lost to the New York Islanders 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night.
Earlier in the day, Panthers coach Pete DeBoer said Dadonov was an “automatic” return to the lineup after a 20-game absence with a broken finger. It was the first multiple-goal game of the young Russian’s NHL career, but went for naught as the Isles, dwelling in the same cellar as the Panthers, took the extra point at BankAtlantic Center.
