The National Hockey League announced today that Florida Panthers rookie RW Evgeny Dadonov has been selected to participate in the 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend that will take place in Raleigh, NC. Dadonov is one of 12 rookies, who will participate in the SuperSkills competition that will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the RBC Center.
Dadonov, 21, has played in 14 games with the Panthers this season scoring three goals with seven assists and a +5 rating. The Chelyabinsk, Russia native, recorded a three-game point streak (2-3-5) from Dec. 15-20. Since being recalled on Dec. 7, Dadonov has recorded three multi-point games this season, Dec. 17 vs. Buffalo (2A), Dec. 20 at Philadelphia (1G, 1A) and Dec. 23 at Buffalo (2A). Prior to being recalled, Dadonov played in 24 games with the Rochester Americans (AHL) recording 16 points (8-8-16) and six PIM.
Dadonov was selected by Florida with their third choice (71st overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover will mark the first time Carolina has hosted NHL All-Star activities. The excitement begins on Friday, Jan. 28 with the NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft powered by Cisco at the Raleigh Convention Center. On Saturday, Jan. 29, the players will take the ice in the Honda NHL SuperSkills® at the RBC Center. The League’s mid-season spectacular concludes with the 58th NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover at the RBC Center on Sunday, Jan. 30.
