Hockey Helps is very happy and proud to announce that it has come to a multi-year exclusive endorsement agreement with Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne! Rinne will serve as one of Hockey Helps’ player ambassadors and will be involved with a number of future initiatives.
Hockey Helps is pleased to welcome Nashville Predators all-star goalie Pekka Rinne to its team of Player Ambassadors!
The 2011-12 season further cemented Rinne’s status as one of the NHL’s elite netminders. He appeared in 73 games for Nashville, setting a new career high with 43 wins, enough to lead the entire League among all goalies. His 2.39 GAA, .923 SV%, and 5 shutouts were near the top of every statistical category and earned him his second consecutive Vezina Trophy nomination. He set a Predators franchise record with 11 consecutive wins from January 7th to February 4th, a span during which he allowed more than 2 goals in a game only once. Rinne was stellar in Nashville’s first round victory over Detroit, allowing only 9 goals in five games and posting two victories with over forty saves made.
Rinne, who hails from Kempele, Finland, has risen to the top of the NHL’s goaltending echelons in a very short period of time. He was drafted in the 8th round by the Predators in 2004, and played three seasons with the club’s AHL affiliate in Milwaukee. He became Nashville’s main man between the pipes in the 2008-09 season, and has emerged as a pillar of the franchise. He was the NHL’s Rookie of the Month in February 2009, when he won 9 of his 12 starts and posted a 1.74 GAA in that span. In 250 career games, Rinne has posted a record of 138 wins, 72 losses, and 26 OT/SO losses. He has a career GAA of 2.35, with a .921 SV% and 25 shutouts. He was selected to the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, and at the season’s end was voted to the 2nd All Star Team.
Rinne will be with the Predators for the long haul, having signed a 7-year contract extension with the club in November 2011. He is not resting during the NHL lockout, as he is currently playing Dynamo Minsk of the KHL.
Hockey Helps is very proud to welcome Pekka Rinne to our team of Player Ambassadors!
