Pekka Rinne holds off the Hurricanes in 2-1 shootout win


Despite missing both David Legwand and Ryan Suter, the Nashville Predators hung on for a gritty shootout victory at Carolina tonight, their 3rd in the last five games. Rinne stopped 21 of 22 Hurricanes shots, including a wide open breakaway to keep the game close, and two out of three chances in the shootout. Jerred Smithson got the lone Predators goal during regulation, while Cal O’Reilly and Martin Erat scored in the shootout to earn the win.
