The game saw 16 different players score a goal, including Canucks farmhand Sergei Shirokov of the Manitoba Moose who notched a single tally for the West.
There were eight goals scored in the first period, four each by the East and West. Andrew Gordon of the Hershey Bears, the Washington Capitals’ affiliate, got the scoring started 15 seconds into the first — the fastest goal ever to start an AHL all-star game.
The West then scored four straight before the East netted five straight in the first and second periods.
The teams traded goals back and forth before the East pulled away with three in the third period.
