Olli Jokinen and Tom Kostopoulos also scored for Calgary, which has used a 10-1-2 run to move into a five-way tie for fourth place in the Western Conference, one point behind the Phoenix Coyotes.
“What is giving us success over the past little while here is we’ve been taking one game at a time and not getting too caught up in the standings,” Staios said. “As you know, it’s ninth to fourth in any given night.”
The Flames are 6-0-2 in their past eight home games and have four remaining on a five-game homestand. Their next game will be played outdoors Sunday at McMahon Stadium against the Montreal Canadiens in the Heritage Classic.
