Kaspars Daugavins and B-Sens Top Amerks to Wrap up Good Weekend

The Binghamton Senators scored three first-period goals and held on for the rest of the game to claim a 3-2 win over the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena Sunday and head into their five-day Christmas break on a high note.

Cornell graduate Colin Greening, Kaspars Daugavins and veteran defenseman David Hale found the net for the B-Sens, and rookie goalie Robin Lehner made 31 saves for his second win in two starts over the weekend.

“It was a good weekend,” said B-Sens coach Kurt Kleinendorst, whose team improved to 14-13-2-2 with two wins in three games. “We wanted to go into the break over .500, which we accomplished. Our battle level was very high, and I think that might have been what helped us get the two points.”

Added Daugavins, “It was a huge win for us. This team plays hard hockey against us every game, so we got lucky to get up 3-0, and good thing we saved the lead. It was tough, but it paid off.”
