Nashville Predators Shea Weber and Pekka Rinne achieved franchise firsts by being named to the post-season NHL All-Star Teams. When a player is referred to as an “NHL All-Star”, this is the honor they’re talking about (not just having made it to an All-Star Game). Shea Weber made the 1st All-Star team alongside Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom on defense (interestingly, Weber got more 1st-place votes than Lidstrom, 67-60), and Pekka Rinne was named goalie on the 2nd All-Star team.

Rinne and Weber, the heart and soul of this gutsy Predators team, were both finalists Wednesday night at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas for the Vezina and Norris Trophies respectively.
